Palm Beach County Residents Logged 6.9 Million Minutes During Physical Activity Challenge

Thousands of Palm Beach County residents committed to improving their health during Palm Healthcare Foundation’s Let’s Move: Commit to Change Physical Activity Challenge. As the agency chosen to build Palm Healthcare’s new Drupal website we were excited to contribute beyond our technology expertise and start hitting the pavement to support this local initiative.

The challenge was a county-wide initiative that focused on physical activity, nutrition and healthy behaviors. Palm Healthcare Foundation, Inc., in partnership with PNC Bank, Tenet Healthcare, CBS12 and ESPN Radio sponsored the annual challenge, which took place throughout the month of March.

Palm Healthcare Foundation and CBS12 first launched Let’s Move: Commit to Change in April 2013, joining First Lady Michelle Obama’s national Let’s Move! initiative. In the first year, just over 100,000 minutes were logged. This year more than 6.9 million minutes of physical activity were completed and logged by 100 teams across the county. Achieve contributed 7,713 of those minutes.

The new Drupal website allowed Palm Healthcare to engage the community and capture even more data from participants. The mobile-friendly site gave participants the ability to register as individuals or teams, and easily log their time and activity. A leader board featured real-time updates on the top five teams to keep participants motivated.

The site also allowed Palm Healthcare to export data by team or by registrant, making it easy to pull specific stats during and after the Let’s Move campaign. We were excited to see the entire Palm Beach community come out and show their support all month long, and look forward to being part of this annual initiative next year.
